How much each bookmaker keeps

The margin is the share of the stake a bookmaker keeps whoever wins. We measure it from the official feeds of ADM-licensed operators, on the 1X2 full-time result: competition by competition right now, and month by month across the whole listing. Nobody else in Italy publishes it. No predictions.

In brackets, the matches the median is based on. In bold, the lowest margin in the row: that is where the bookmaker keeps least. An operator appears in a competition only if it prices at least 5 of its matches.

How we measure it

For each match we turn the three full-time result prices into implied probabilities (1 divided by the price), add them up and subtract 1: what is left is that operator's margin on that match. For a competition we take the median, not the mean, so a few odd prices do not move the figure.

Matches in progress are left out: live, the feeds are captured at different instants and the comparison would measure the lag between them. Betsson and StarCasino share the group's prices and count as one bookmaker.

The monthly series comes from one reading a day across the whole football listing; a day counts for an operator only if it priced at least 100 matches that day, so a half-down feed does not skew the month. «d» is the number of valid days.
